How Much Work Am I Required To Do As A Freelance Writer?

For the fact that writing jobs are usually bulky (webmasters normally need writers to provide large amount of articles for their websites), so much that writers may not be able to do all in a short space of time, it becomes necessary that they ask writers how much work they could complete at a given time before they hire them.

This question is asked either in the advertisement for freelance writers or after the job giver is satisfied with your interest in the job and is will to sign you on as their writer.

Whenever you read such questions, like “how many articles can you write in a day or week, or how many hours can you give for the assignment in a day or week,” webmasters simply want to know how they could plan their work with you in their team. Don’t think they want to use it to eliminate some people, rather assess your schedule and the time you have available to give for the job and be truthful about it. It will not be in your interest at the end of the day if you say you can write ten articles in a day only to hardly finish writing two.

However, if the job giver desires that the writer must produce a particular number of articles daily or weekly, they would state it in their advert as a necessary requirement for any writer that may be interested in the job. Again if you don’t think you can meet the heavy work schedule, it may not be necessary for you to apply to such writing jobs.

Another thing to be aware of is the length of the article. Depending on what the job giver intends to achieve with the writings, they normally specify the length of an article they want a writer to write. It may be a 150, 350, 500, etc.

Therefore, as a writer you have to stick to the length that you have agreed with the job giver. If you are to write a 350 word article, endeavour to restrict your writing to that. You will not be helping the webmaster if you go on to write a 400 word instead. That may be against the plan and strategy for which the article was meant. In fact, one of the attributes of a good writer is to be able to manage their writings to the stipulated length.
